2022 Scholarship Awards Presentation Luncheon

The Scholarship Awards Luncheon was held Sunday, May 15 at the Gaelic League of Detroit.  Our guest speaker was Eileen M. Newell, who gave an uplifting message about being Irish in America, that was both inspiring and though provoking. Mr. Michael Goddard, father of last year’s scholarship winner, Rose-Carmel Goddard, gave the Blessing before our luncheon and to everyone who contributed to, worked on, and received the Scholarships.

Our Winner of the First Prize Scholarship of $5,000 is Maeve Spicer, who will be attending Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida in the fall where she will be enrolled in the Global Studies Program with a goal of becoming a special agent with the Central Intelligence Agency.

Second Prize of $3,000 was awarded to Bridget Dolowy who will pursuing a degree in Education from Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology.

Third Prize was given to Joshua Hoenscheid.  His $2,000 award will help him in his goal to earn a Masters Degree in Business Administration & Accounting from University of Detroit Mercy.

Entertainment was provided by Inis Ceol, and our guest artist was Peggy Spilker who donated three paintings for a raffle to benefit the Scholarship as well as offered customized artwork for sale.
